Maplewood
Maplewood - Etching and aquatint- 2011 - 21.75 " x29.75 " - Edition 30 - $1100

Here's a Gloucester scene, looking north behind Shaw's towards Rockport. It was very near to here that Edward Hopper painted his famous oil "Freight Cars, Gloucester" in 1928. Eighty-three years later, I was working on a painting looking in the other direction down the tracks, when I turned around and noticed this fascinating scene.

Far too complex for my meager painting abilities, this view was both thrilling and challenging to draw and took 16 states and almost three months to reach completion as an etching. This is my largest etching to date.
