Subterrane
Subterrane - Etching with Aquatint - 2010 - 30 " x18 " - Edition 30 - $1000

I was commissioned to do this print by Doug Sanford, owner of the North Dam Mill in Biddeford, Maine. Back in the summer of 2009 I had a show of my etchings in the mill, a remodeled textile mill now home to businesses, art studios, and apartments. The complex of buildings is a fascinating place, with any number of interesting possible compositions. Doug saw my work in the show and asked me to do a print, and he suggested this spot for me - a great suggestion, as this was probably the most exciting view I found in the entire area. This was a real blast for me to do and with the financial backing of the commission, I was able to tackle this in the largest and most ambitious etching I had yet attempted. I owe Doug a huge thank you for the opportunity, and for allowing me complete creative freedom for this project.
An impression of this print is owned by the Ogunquit Museum of American Art.

Drawing for "Subterrane"
The pencil drawing I did on site, on which I based the print. This is the same size as the etching.
